This is our Hanakotoba Matcha Bowl

The previous owner of the matcha bowl told us that this bowl has been made more than 50 years ago in Kyoto.

The blue white-blue flower motife seems resembles a Forget-me-not flower (wasure-nagusa (忘れな草) in Japanese)

In Hanakotoba (花言葉) the Japanese language of flowers, Forget-me-nots carry the meaning of “true love”. This flower symbolises the Bonds of friendship and love, remonding someone to not Forget about their loved ones.

The Master of This Matcha Bowl is Yoshi Sanzo, The master of the bowl left a certificate in the bowl which we are still trying to translate due to the old Japanese scripture.

We named this Matcha Bowl “Hanakotaba” which translates to ‘the Language of flowers’. To remind the new owner of the meaning of the Forget-me-not flower.
